"Kavakos - Sun nite or Mon morn 26 feb 1945"
...found a Speed Graphix pointed at Ralph from Winston-Salem, Ed from small town Georgia, and the WAC private to whom both men autographed this souvenir photo.

Trying to "read" the details of an old picture is an irresistable temptation. Is that a feral snarl on the face of the woman behind Ed's right shoulder? And why are there three bottles but just two beer glasses on the table?

It's impossible to know whether the postwar years bore out Ralph's heartiness, Bill's bemused grin, or their friend's slightly wary gaze. But the picture must have been a valued gift to the recipient--58 years later it was among the items from an estate auctioned on eBay.
